Labor day in New York City is one of the most fun weekends of the year, and things really get popping in Brooklyn. From the West Indian Day Parade to sporting events to picnics in the park, there is no shortage of things to do. We’ve put together a helpful list of things to do on Labor Day Weekend in Brooklyn in 2026. We hope you enjoy it!

The five best things to do on Labor Day weekend

17th Annual NYC Unicycle Festival · 📍 Breeze Hill, Prospect Park

Biking in Brooklyn is a common activity but on Labor Day Weekend, 2026, the streets belong to the unicyclists. This free event promises half the bike and twice the fun and is a great way to kick off the weekend. The Brooklyn portion starts on Friday, Sep 4th and runs from 2pm to 6pm, where riders travel from Brooklyn Bridge to Coney Island.

2. Watch a baseball game · 📍 Maimonides Park, Coney Island

The Brooklyn Cyclones are a minor league baseball team in Coney Island, and their last games of the season are over Labor Day weekend. There are games on September 5th and 6th, and you can buy tickets directly at the stadium. When you're done, you can go to the beach, enjoy the Coney Island Amusement Park, and even eat at the original Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs stand. Tickets are cheap, and if you want to watch a sporting event, it's a great thing to experience.

3. See a concert · 📍 Barclays Center, Prospect Heights

The Barclays center hosts two concerts over Labor Day weekend: Robyn on Friday, September 4 at 8pm, and Don Toliver on Sunday, September 6 at 7:30pm. You can buy tickets on the Barclays Center Website.

4. Take a stroll in Fort Greene Park · 📍 Dekalb Avenue and Cumberland Street

Fort Greene Park is Brooklyn's first official park, which was opened in 1847. We recommend grabbing a coffee at The Good Batch before taking a beautiful 15 minute stroll to the park. It’s a great place to hang out and enjoy nature, and on the Monday of Labor Day, the park is hosting a free fitness class with AMP’d Fitness from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

5. The West Indian American Day Carnival · 📍 Eastern Parkway, Crown Heights

The 56th Annual West Indian Day Parade takes place in Brooklyn on Monday, September 2nd, 2026. You can listen to great music, watch dancers, and enjoy delicious Caribbean food and drinks. The parade runs down Eastern Parkway from Utica Avenue toward Grand Army Plaza in front of a crowd that regularly passes a million people. The parade runs from 8am-6pm, but we recommend getting there around noon.

We hope you have a great Labor Day weekend! Most of these events are by the shop, so pop in, grab a coffee, and try a delicious ice cream sandwich.
